No pictures today...sorry! On Sunday we stayed in all day after our big day on Saturday. We've also all been fighting a cold/allergies, which it seems we are finally at the end of, but it was nice to have a day to recuperate.
Yesterday C took the metro to Lavra, which is the holiest Orthodox Christian site in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus...according to our book. It's a cave monastery. We decided the mummified monks and caves and pilgrims to this area might not be conducive to small children. :) The girls and I took a (long) walk and found a huge fabric store, which we were hoping to find since E wants to make Berrykins from Strawberry Shortcake. Mission accomplished. I'm sure we'll be back! We also walked through a big outdoor market with everything imaginable, found a huge grocery store-we've been looking for Parmalat chocolate milk...which is insanely better than anything we have in the States. They don't appear to have it, but we found something else (in cyrillic) that equals it...so success! Our guidebook had also said that the chocolate store Roshen had Ukrainian souvenirs, but it only had chocolate. It's not a bad day when you can't find what you're looking for, but the alternative is an entire store of cheap, high quality chocolate. :)
It's supposed to rain for the next couple of days, so we're hoping to go to the circus next door today. We're not sure how to buy tickets in advance...so if it doesn't work we'll go tomorrow! Please pray for the others who will arrive today. There are 7 or 8 families arriving in the next few days. Several of us have our appointments on Thursday. Ours will be at 4 am Thursday your time (for those in our time zone) so if you don't mind to say a prayer for us on Wednesday night your time, we'd appreciate it!
We'll try hard to have pictures next time, since I know that's what everyone wants to see anyway. :)
